Abstract

Currently, Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) is recognized as the key to improving the quality of care and patient outcomes. Therefore, its focus is on effectively translating the best recent evidence as a basis for nursing practice. In this context, this study seeks to explore the integration of Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) in the nursing teaching staff of two Chilean private universities. To this end, the 25-item Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire (EBPQ), adapted to the Chilean context, is administered. A total of 62 responses are received, during a period of one month. Additionally, the curriculum of the training program of the aforementioned Higher Education Institutions (IES) and the research proposals of nursing students, as a requirement to graduate, are reviewed. The results show that the EBN approach is not implemented in the clinical practice of the respondents, nor in the Nursing training of this degree program. On the other hand, research proposals are mainly oriented to the health area and not to nursing care. Therefore, they do not allow this discipline to develop from research.
