Abstract

Flipped classroom has become a new trend in the 21st century world of higher education because it has the potential to promote active learning in students. However, its micro-implementation poses some challenges for teachers who prefer traditional in-person classes. This study analyzes student and teacher perceptions on the effectiveness of flipped classroom in higher education. For this purpose, a systematic review of the literature available on this subject is carried out. Thus, 12 articles published between 2017 and 2022 are reviewed. Most of these research studies maintain that flipped classroom facilitates the learning of undergraduate students. It is concluded that it is necessary to micro-implement this method, as a strategy to promote active learning in higher education.
