The experience of a PhD student in a research stay in Mexico: Shared learning and experience

Abstract

The experience of a PhD student in a research stay is full of learning and often opens up many opportunities for personal and professional development. From a lifelong learning perspective, this article seeks to explore, through a reflective self-study, my learning process throughout my doctorate from the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko University (Spain). In this qualitative self-study, I kept a reflective personal, professional, and academic journal, in which I tell various experiences that I lived through and situations that caught my attention. Additionally, I prepared a confidential Research Stay Report. Results show my growth and internationalization process. They also reflect my theoretical approaches and my commitment to a transformative change in 21st-century higher education.
